The task was to redesign a local organization's brand logo with typography. Not only did I have to create a logo, I had to create a brand guideline, event branding, and an identity system as well. I chose to Friendly Loving Opportunities as my local organization to redesign.
I learned how typography can influence how people perceive a design through the manipulation of letter forms.
I began by examining the original logo. I wanted to simplify it while keeping some key features such as the sunset and the dove.
I came up with a couple of drafts but I was not satisfied. With the help of my professor, I implemented some Catholic imagery as seen on their current logo.
The final design is much simpler, with the typography having both the long and short version of their name. The three doves represent the the father, son, and holy spirit, the cross represents the organization's faith while the rays represent a brighter future.
